This little enchantress is Evelina from the town of Harmanli. She is only 3 years and 8 months old. Despite all pains she has suffered since her birth a smile always lights up her beautiful face.

Evelina was born on October 19, 2003 in the town of Haskovo. At the age of 5 months a dislocation of the hip joint was found. Evka has both neurological and orthopedic diseases and this is why her treatment is very difficult. For 3 years she has been treated at the specialized hospital “Saint Sofia” and she is regularly examined in Gorna Banya. Specialists from both centers recommend to the family the Medical center Aschau, Germany.

On September 27, 2006 Evelina was examined as an outpatient in the Medical center Aschau, Germany, Germany. It was stated in the medical report that the child has complete dislocation of left hip joint accompanied by marked dysplasia when the pelvis is in upright position, intense necrosis of the head of the femur and a bigger metaphyseal widening.
The opinion of the German doctors was that an urgent operation has to be performed on Evelina and it was planned for August 27, 2007. The amount necessary for the surgery, hospital stay and post-operative therapy is 9 440 Euro.

Evka is a very smart and inquisitive child. All the time she asks: “Mammy, when shall my leg be cures, so I can play like the other children do?”. At the moment her left leg is 4 cm shorter than the right one. When she walks, someone has to accompany her, because the whole body weight falls on her right leg. Like the other children she wants to go to kindergarten and dreams that when she grows up she will go to school and have textbooks.
