At the beginning of December 2006, an Internet forum posted the information about the illness of the three-year-old Darina from Varna. Thus, the www.save-darina.org site was created. Its initial and only goal was to collect the huge sum of 300 000 Euros, necessary for Darinka’s bone marrow transplantation abroad. The sum was collected for the record- breaking period of two months – with the help of thousands of people from all over the world taking part in the campaign and donating. Dari and her parents left for Israel. The operation was in the clinic in Hadasa, where the small Dari was treated.

After Darinka had left, tens of visitors of the site wanted us to keep on with our activity and that is what we did – we started helping other children in trouble and their parents. As a result, the new version of the site has several new campaigns, which we have been doing our best for.

During the initial campaign, the most helpful people and those who took part in various initiatives formed a ‘core’, so to say, and we started coordinating our activities to achieve better efficiency. That was how the site’s team got together – we all are parents and we sympathize with the pain and the problems of these children and their families. Every day, even without seeing each other in person (some of the team’s members live abroad) we spare some of our time to help the children we would never consider as ‘other people’s children’.

We are not a foundation, and association or any kind of a formal organization. (Probably, for this reason so many people believe in us and have been helping us). Each one of us takes part in this noble undertaking absolutely voluntarily and for nothing. The sums from the donations are directly transferred to the account of the children and we do not use any part of the money, and it is us who pay for the maintenance of the site and for all administrative expenses.

The site membership is for free, we do not accept paid advertising and all banners here belong to people or sites that have helped us or form part of a system for exchange of banners, and the aim is to increase the popularity of the site.

Everyone who has been exceptionally active in any of our current campaigns is welcome to join our team and to help us in our future efforts and forthcoming activities.
